The card game Gwent: The Witcher Card Game has opened its doors to new and unfamiliar people by opening beta for public! For those unaware about what Gwent is, Gwent started out as a small minigame you could play in CDPROJEKT’s Witcher 3. The goal is simple: First you build a deck of cards around a certain faction. (each with their own monsters and abilities) with this deck you’ll be trying to have a higher score than the opponent. You don’t know what cards your enemy has though. They could have cards that scorches away your highest scoring monster or buff their cards to score double! So you’re going to play carefully and bluff your way to victory. Losing a round is sometimes part of your cunning plan to be victorious.
Now there is a standalone version in the works where you can now jump into thanks to the open beta. It’s been expanded on and improved compared to the witcher 3’s variant. You can play it ranked, casually and eventually you will also be able to follow a singleplayer campaign. So gather around the table with some community mates and let’s play a round of cards!
It’s available on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. For more information check their official website and enjoy watching the gameplay and cinematic trailer below!
